I've been creating and making jewelry for many years now. It has really been a hobby rather than something I've made any $$ on. However a few years ago, my mom decided she would like to try her hand at some jewelry making, and was bitten by the handcrafting bug also. Since then we've made a go at doing a few craft shows a year, nothing too intense. This past summer, after a really good show I decided to be a little more serious about what I was doing. So I threw out my old lame name (which I never was happy with) Everyday's a Halladay, and tried to come up with something that would apply to this joint adventure my mom and I have been journeying on. Thus Like Mother, Like Daughter was born.
And while I secretly think my mother was tickled by the name, it has gotten me thinking about how very many ways I am like my mother. I used to rail against it when I was younger (don't we all,) especially since there are such outward similarities in our appearance too. How many times did I hear "Oh, you look just like your mother!" But as I've grown older and my mother and I have drawn closer I realize I am very much like her. Teacher, librarian, mother, wife, friend, choir-member, jewelry maker; these are just a few of the hats both she AND I wear. On a side note, I wanted to name this blog "So many hats...so few heads" but I just didn't like the picture that conjured up.
So as we enter fall and life comes at us full force, I decided to add one more hat. Our Etsy shop opened up on September 15, 2008. Like Mother, Like Daughter...unique jewelry designs for all ages was born and can be found at www.lmld.etsy.com. I will be adding things continually, so please visit us often. I also hope to use this blog to showcase some of our creations along with a few musings from my many-hatted life.
Is hatted a word?

Sarah,
I found your blog by looking up who was following our new bookends blog. I'm a beader, too! Good luck with the Etsy store and the new blog. I love that you are doing this new venture with your mother. --Cindy
